Be a Founding Educator
This is an exciting time for Brightfield. We are planting seeds and sinking in roots. We are looking for curious and dedicated founding educators!
Instruction always takes place within a context. At one level, the idea of context has to do with trying to connect learning in a certain academic discipline with children’s knowledge in their everyday experiences, that is, their lives outside of school. The key in our classrooms is in how to ground their learning in everyday experiences—in nature, in their communities, with each other and within themselves—while at the same time helping them acquire academic competence.
PLACE-BASED EDUCATION
Self, Place, & Community
At Brightfield, our faculty works as a highly collaborative and supportive community that practices mindful listening and group decision-making. Teachers incorporate a variety of methods in a place-based model, encouraging in their students a curious and joyful relationship to nature and a cultivated sense of self, place, and community.
