What is Brightfield?
A bright-field is the illuminated space surrounding the object of a microscope’s exploratory view. In our case, Brightfield symbolizes a diverse natural place of positivity in which bright ideas and individuals flourish.
Coming together in community to fill a gap in Midcoast Maineʼs place-based educational offerings, Brightfield’s founding families and educational advisors are profoundly dedicated to the preservation of this educational model and to Midcoast Maineʼs bright future.
TRANSFORMATIONAL POTENTIAL
Place-Based Education
We have each experienced the transformational potential of place-based education in our own ways. For some, children who felt listless in traditional educational settings found a more engaging and empowering learning environment in the place-based model. Others came to place-based education passionate about Maine and looking for an educational experience that would immerse their children in the Midcoastʼs unique outdoors everyday. Still others hold social-emotional learning and a focus on community as core family values and have found those values clearly reflected in this educational model.
