Growing Together: Support Brightfield’s Future!

What a year! Brightfield students have already launched into learning off-campus more than 70 times, shared experiences with 16 new community partners, hosted our first ever student-led Makers Market, and provided over $120,000 in tuition assistance to make place-based education accessible to all.

To keep this amazing work going, we need your help! We aim to raise $25,000 this spring to finish out this school year as magically as we started it – and lay a strong foundation for many more to come – and you can choose exactly where your gift goes (non-directed gifts will go where they’re needed most).

Why Brightfield?

We love hearing from the Brightfield Community …

“Brightfield’s teachers work hard to connect with their students and the community. This is obvious in the pride our daughter shows as she talks about the field trips, such as coastal clean ups at the beaches of some of Maine’s state parks, and counting salamanders at local nature preserves. These connections with teachers, school and community have led to our daughter’s amazing growth in confidence, social emotional skills, and all academics since being at Brightfield.”

“Brightfield is a school of relationships—how to be in good relationships with peers, teachers, the land, community at large and perhaps most importantly, the self. The small class sizes and core values have helped cultivate a deep sense of intrinsic value in the classroom for both of our sons. We could not be more grateful for this school and the place-based education it has provided to our kids.”

“Our middle-schooler dances around the house each morning singing about how much he loves school. The depth and breadth of the education and personal growth experiences afforded at this place-based, child-centered school is unparalleled.”

“Our son came alive as a first and second grader through place-based education. We can see how rooted he, and now our daughter, feel in this part of Maine, in their classrooms and community. They have a feeling of belonging here, and with these people, that is building confidence and resilience at their cores.”

“We have searched for a school like Brightfield. It’s small, intentional, hands-on, and relationship based. It challenges our children academically, pushes them individually, and nurtures them personally. Their experience at Brightfield is instilling a love for learning, confidence in self, and commitment to community in ways that we have long dreamt of finding in a school.”
