Led by: KELT, Kyle
Grades 1–8 | Vernal Pool Exploration
Dates: February 25 – April 15
# of Sessions: 8
Pick-up: at Brightfield at 4:30pm

Nature Explorers invites students to closely observe local vernal pools as they transition from frozen to thawed, Winter into Spring. Through repeated visits, students will track animal movement, notice subtle seasonal changes, and witness amphibians returning to their spring breeding grounds.

Participants will practice careful observation, animal tracking, and respectful exploration while learning about vernal pools as essential and fragile ecosystems. As the weeks progress, students may encounter egg masses, migrating amphibians, and the early signs of Spring emerging in and around these temporary wetlands.

This program is offered in partnership with Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) and supports a growing relationship between students, local land stewards, and the landscapes that surround our community.
