School's out! We celebrated our last week in style with hikes, bikes, and plenty of silliness. Happy summer!!!
We can't believe it's our last week of school! Brightfield students have already been thinking ahead to what next year will hold, and recently spent time in next year's cohorts creating art that reflects their hopes and dreams for next year.

There are still a handful of spots available for next year in Kindergarten, grade 2, and grades 5-8! Reach out if you're also excited about opportunities for place-based learning next year!
This is the month of spring overnight trips at Brightfield! As a part of our school year, our students take part in overnights and expeditions that progress in challenge and skill as they get older. We just welcomed back our 3/4 cohort from a cabin on a pond in Bridgton, our 5/6 cohort from two nights in a cabin at Camden Hills State Park, and our 7/8 students are currently backpacking for four nights in the White Mountains on the Pemi loop.

Experiential education is a part of daily life at Brightfield, but our expeditions are a chance for students to really stretch their sense of self, and what they can achieve as a group. We are proud of all the risks they took on, the joys they discovered, and the peak experiences they are having at the end of this school year.
Today we celebrated National Bike to School Day! Participants in our after-school bike club, as well as their classmates and families, met in Bath to finish their morning commute together by bike!

The Bike Club will also be hosting The Bicycle Coalition of Maine for a Fix-A-Bike workshop on Tuesday, June 2nd, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. This workshop covers pre-ride bike checks, helmet safety, and basic maintenance as well as road/mountain bike riding technique. Everyone will have an opportunity to get their bike in a stand for some checks and maintenance. This workshop is free. Let us know if you want to join us!
